Protest in Jalndhar over illegal encroachment and demolition of Noorpur temple

Jalandhar: Scores of people in PAP Chowk of Jalandhar on Wednesday staged a sit-in in protest against the demolition in Noorpur temple  and halted the traffic movement on the highway for hours.  Reports reaching said that the protesters have a lot of anger against the administration who allege that some people have occupied the common.

Reports reaching said that the protesters have a lot of anger against the administration who allege that some people have occupied the common land of Noorpur village.

Sources also said that a letter has also been issued to the administration regarding this matter.

In the letter issued, Gagandeep Singh said that Sarpanch Balwinder Kaur and her husband Shingara Singh have got the common and government land of the village occupied by some people of the village. Some Panch members are also involved in this occupation. The villagers say that the common Panchayat and canal land of Noorpur should be marked and the illegal encroachments should be removed and a source of income for the village should be made.

Chairman Joginder Singh Mann said that there are some issues in the villages. In Jaladpur under Lohiya, the holy book was desecrated. When a complaint was made about this matter, instead of arresting the accused, the police registered a case against unknown people, but no action has been taken till now.
