Islamabad: The political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has released a statement following an important meeting, demanding full access to party founder Imran Khan due to serious concerns regarding his health and safety, according to media reports.
The committee expressed that Imran Khan’s well-being is a significant issue, especially with increasing public worry. They called for the immediate restoration of access for Khan’s family, legal representatives, and party officials to ensure transparency and accountability.
Additionally, the committee urged the federal and Punjab governments, along with jail authorities, to provide regular and clear updates on Khan’s health status. They also appealed to the judiciary to protect Khan’s fundamental rights and to implement strong security measures.
The committee issued a strong warning, stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and relevant state institutions would be held accountable for any failures that could jeopardize Khan’s safety.
Earlier, Adiala Jail officials confirmed that Imran Khan is currently in good health, addressing rumors of his transfer to another facility. Sources indicated that Khan is being held in a cell within the jurisdiction of the New Town police station and is on physical remand until December 2 in connection with a case stemming from the September 28 protest.
Daily medical evaluations by jail doctors have shown that his blood pressure and sugar levels are normal. Authorities noted that Imran Khan maintains his fitness through regular exercise twice a day. Following jail guidelines, all necessary facilities are being provided for his care, including special attention to his diet and overall health.
On December 30, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore convicted Imran Khan for his involvement in the events of May 9 and denied him bail in eight separate cases. The court’s six-page written ruling cited substantial evidence against him, including audio and video recordings that allegedly show him inciting violent actions.
