Amritsar: The Counter Intelligence unit of Amritsar Police apprehended two individuals in connection with the smuggling of weapons from Pakistan to Punjab, as announced by the Director General of Punjab Police on Saturday. The suspects were reportedly waiting for another accomplice in the Gharinda area of Amritsar district to receive a shipment of weapons when they were arrested. Authorities seized eight firearms from them, including four Austrian-made Glock pistols, two Turkish-made 9mm pistols, and two X-Shot Zigana .30 bore pistols, along with ten rounds of ammunition.

According to Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, this operation represents a significant setback for illegal arms smuggling networks. An FIR has been filed under the Arms Act, and investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional connections related to the case. The Punjab Police emphasized their commitment to dismantling organized crime and enhancing public safety.
