Chandigarh: Days after change in the New Delhi Government, there will be a reshuffle in Punjab Cabinet today after about 10 months. As per sources, four cabinet ministers have already tendered their resignation and today five new ministers will be inducted in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet.
The ministers who resigned include Balkaur Singh, Chetan Singh Joramajra, Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Anmol Gagan Mann. Among the MLAs to be inducted in Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet are Hardeep Singh Mundian, Tarunpreet S Sondh, Barinder Goyal and Mohinder Bhagat. All of them will take oath today at 5 pm at Raj Niwas.
This is going to be the fourth reshuffle of the Punjab government in three months, till now there are 15 ministers in the cabinet including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. As per norms, There can be a total of 18 ministers in the cabinet.
About the New Faces to be inducted in Cabinet
Hardeep Singh
Hardeep Singh Mundian is MLA from Sahnewal. In 2022, he defeated Vikram Singh Bajwa of Congress while contesting on AAP ticket. 34.33 percent votes were cast in favor of Mundian. Sahnewal has been the seat of Shiromani Akali Dal.
Mohinder Bhagat
Among the five new names being included in the cabinet, the most talked about is Mahendra Bhagat, who has won the by-election in the Jalandhar West seat. Mahendra Bhagat defeated BJP candidate Sheetal Angural. Mahendra Bhagat got 55,245 votes here. Sheetal Angural was elected from this seat in 2022 on AAP ticket.
Tarunpreet Sondh
Tarunpreet Sondh defeated Congress’s Gurkirat Singh Kotli in the 2022 assembly elections. Sondh got 62,425 votes while Kotli got only 26,805 votes. Kotli had won this seat in 2017.
Barinder Goyal
Barinder Goyal defeated Akali Dal’s Parminder Singh Dhindsa in the last assembly elections. Dhindsa won the election from this seat in 2017 but Goyal defeated Dhindsa by a huge margin in the 2022 elections.
