According to this, the rates have been increased by 10 to 12 paise per unit for domestic and 15 paise for industrial. At the same time, the electricity rate for tubewell connection has been increased by 15 paise.

The new orders will come into effect in Punjab from June 16. These orders will remain for one year. During this time, the rates of all categories will change.

Let us tell you that in Punjab, every family gets 300 units of electricity free in a month and 600 units of electricity in two months. If a family consumes more than 600 units of electricity, then the full bill is recovered from them.

If this happens, the consumer will have to pay the electricity bill at the increased rate. According to the new rate, every family will now have to pay 30 to 40 rupees extra.

No increase in rates from 7 to 50 kilowatts

In the domestic category, there has been no increase in rates from 7 kilowatts to 50 kilowatts. Most of the middle class and high class come in this category. Who are already paying from 5.34 rupees to 7.75 rupees per unit. If all taxes are added, then this unit becomes around 10 rupees.

Along with this, there has been no increase in the rates of non-residential supply. In this, the rate is 6.91 to 7.75 rupees per unit up to 7 kilowatts
