Chandigarh: In a significant development, the Punjab Police has confirmed that it will be removing the National Security Act (NSA) on Amritpal Singh’s Associates, bringing them back to Punjab from Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. this decision comes as part of the ongoing investigation into the Ajnala police Station attack case.
In February 2023, a mob of around 200-250 people, led by Sikh Leader Amtritpal Singh, stormed the Ajnala Police Station, armed with deadly weapons, to free one of their associates who was in Police custody. The Braxen attack on law enforcement sent shockwaves through the state, prompting the police to take stern action.
Starting tomorrow, all the prisoners involved in the attack will be transferred from Dibrugarh Jailwill be transferred from Dibrugarh Jail to Punjab. This move signifies Punjab Police’s commitment to holding those responsible accountable and ensuring justice. The investigation is expected to reveal more about Amritpal’s network and the broader implications of his actions on regional security. The Police are determined to restore law and order and take strict action against criminal activities in the state.
Officials have confirmed that arrangements are being made for the transfer of the detainees, and further legal proceedings will follow once they are back in Punjab.
