Chandigarh: On Thursday, Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav inaugurated the new Support Services Unit (SSU) at the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Headquarters. He was joined by several officials, including Special DGP ANTF Kuldeep Singh, Special DGP Internal Security RN Dhoke, ADGP ANTF Nilabh Kishore, and ADGP Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Promod Ban.
DGP Yadav announced that the ANTF is now better equipped to fight narcotics, thanks to cutting-edge technology and advanced intelligence resources. The newly established unit will focus on analyzing drug-related data, communications, financial transactions, and trafficking profiles, which will enhance the ANTF’s effectiveness in tackling drug issues with precision.
This initiative follows the recent launch of the ANTF’s Intelligence and Technical Unit (SITU), created with an investment of Rs 11 crore, which provides advanced software for analyzing drug-related activities and profiling traffickers. Yadav noted that the Support Services Unit, which cost Rs 1.28 crore, includes modern facilities such as updated office spaces and infrastructure designed to improve the ANTF’s operational capabilities against drug trafficking.
Earlier this year, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann allocated Rs 14.6 crore to enhance the ANTF’s resources, with nearly Rs 11 crore designated for technological upgrades and Rs 3 crore for physical infrastructure improvements.
