Punjab: Possibility of Rain in 11 districts; heatwave alert in 9, Weather will be normal from 5th June

Chandigarh : The Meteorological Department on Sunday issued an alert of heat wave in some areas of Punjab and rain and strong winds in some areas.

While the Malwa region of the state is suffering from heat wave, there is a possibility of relief from rain in Majha and Doaba. According to the Meteorological Department, now some days are going to be full of relief.

Mixed effects will be seen in the state till June 4, while the situation is becoming normal from June 5. According to the Meteorological Department, there was a slight change in the weather in Mansa, Sangrur, Barnala and Bathinda last night. But today there is a heat wave alert in these areas.

Apart from these, heat wave alert has also been issued in Muktsar, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Ludhiana. While yellow alert has been issued for rain and strong winds along with heat wave in Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr.

Relief from heatwave till June 4

The situation is expected to become normal in 10 districts of Malwa in Punjab on June 3, the same situation will continue till June 4. While yellow alert has been issued for rain and strong winds in other 13 districts of Doaba and Majha for June 3-4. No alert has been issued in entire Punjab till June 5.

Monsoon will become active by the end of June

According to the schedule issued by the Meteorological Department, there are chances of monsoon becoming active in Punjab by the end of June. Monsoon will enter Punjab between June 25 and 30. After which Punjab will get relief from the heat wave.

The Meteorological Department has predicted normal rainfall this year. There are chances of 105% rainfall this time.

Temperature of major cities of Punjab

Amritsar- The temperature in the city was recorded at 45.5 degrees last evening, which is expected to drop by 1 degree.

Jalandhar- The maximum temperature was recorded at 43.4 degrees last evening, which is expected to remain the same today as well.

Ludhiana- The maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 45.3 degrees last evening. There will be a slight drop in this temperature today. It is expected that the temperature may reach close to 43 degrees.

Patiala- The temperature on Saturday evening was recorded at 44.6 degrees. There is an alert regarding heatwave here even today, the temperature will remain close to 45 degrees.

Mohali- The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 43.8 degrees. Today the sky is expected to be clear and the maximum temperature is expected to be close to 43 degrees.
