Jaipur: Amid surge in COVID cases in Rajasthan, Principal and Controller of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur, Dr Deepak Maheshwari said that eight cases have been reported in the hospital and one child was in serious condition.
Principal and Controller, SMS Medical College, Jaipur Dr Deepak Maheshwari said, “There is some resurgence of Covid. Cases have increased from before. Eight cases have been reported in the SMS in the last few days. One person has died, but it was not due to COVID. Now we are keeping an eye but whatever cases are coming up, there are cases of mild COVID or respiratory disease. There is generally no lower respiratory tract involvement. There is an upper respiratory tract involvement.”
He further said that these are being presented as mild flu and in the same way they get cured.
“We have facilities to test for COVID in the hospital. There is very good facilities as well as wards and ICU if needed, but there is no need to press the panic button right now. Of the eight cases, one case is serious. One child is sick, he is in ICU and he has tested positive for COVID. We have sent samples of COVID for genome sequencing, so that the variant can be known,” he further said.
In Rajasthan 9 COVID cases were reported on Tuesday. Two cases were reported in AIIMS Jodhpur and 7 cases in Jaipur.
As of now 32 patients have been reported this year with one death.
District wise cases in Rajasthan as of now Ajmer-2, Bikaner-1, Didwana-3, Jaipur-13, Jodhpur-6, Phalodi-1, Sawai Madhopur-1, Udaipur-4, others-1.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has confirmed that while COVID-19 cases were reported again in parts of the country, current variants in circulation were showing mild symptoms similar to the Omicron strain.
