Mumbai: Veteran actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who is preparing for his much-anticipated comeback with Krrish 4, recently recalled his experience of working with legendary actress Rekha. Having collaborated on several successful films such as Khoobsurat, Aakraman, Aurat, Khoon Bhari Maang, Koi… Mil Gaya, and the Krrish franchise, Roshan addressed past rumours suggesting that Rekha was difficult to work with. He revealed that during the making of Khoon Bhari Maang, he was warned by many that Rekha would be unprofessional, arriving late and leaving sets early. However, his own experience with her contradicted these claims. When Rakesh approached Rekha with the role, he candidly expressed his concerns, given that the film was a challenging, woman-centric project. Rekha immediately dismissed the rumours and assured him that she only gave trouble to those who failed to pay her or honour their commitments.

Khoon Bhari Maang, released in 1988, was a remake of the Australian mini-series Return to Eden (1983). The film’s gripping storyline, memorable songs, and the famous crocodile scene contributed to its success. Rekha portrayed Aarti, a woman betrayed by her husband Sanjay (played by Kabir Bedi), who pushes her into a crocodile-infested lake. Miraculously surviving the attack and undergoing cosmetic surgery, Aarti returns with a transformed identity to exact revenge. Rekha’s intense and emotionally charged performance in the film was widely praised, further solidifying her status as one of Bollywood’s finest actresses.

Rakesh Roshan’s enduring professional relationship with Rekha has spanned across multiple projects, with her performances shining in films like Koi… Mil Gaya and the Krrish series. His recollections highlight Rekha’s dedication and professionalism, proving that the rumours surrounding her were unfounded. As Roshan gears up for Krrish 4, his reflections on Rekha’s commitment serve as a reminder that in the world of cinema, talent and dedication often outshine baseless gossip.
