For the repair of the bridge at Summerhill on the Kalka-Shimla railway track, trains will now run only till Taradevi on 27th and 28th June. The Railway Board has prepared a plan to get the work done in the second phase. As per the plan, finishing work will be done on the bridge. In the first phase, the construction work has been completed up to about 70 percent. The officials of the technical wing have also inspected the work. During the inspection, satisfaction has been expressed in the ongoing work.
At present, trains are being sent to Taradevi till June 12. All the trains are also returning from here. Now after this, the Railway Board has decided to get the work done in the last week. The repair of the bridge will also be completed after the completion of the work in two phases. After this, the Railway Board will issue the time period for running all the trains.
Bridge 800 near Summerhill was completely damaged in the rain on 14 August 2023 on the Kalka-Shimla railway track. Due to the excessive flow of water due to cloudburst, even the girders of the bridge were broken. The railway line was hanging in the air. After this, a bridge was built here with the help of two girders. This bridge started demanding repairs after two years. Now its repair is going on.
The technical wing has planned to complete the work in two phases. Work is going on at a fast pace in the first phase. After the completion of the work, there is a plan to send trains to Taradevi on 27th and 28th June in the second phase.
