Jalandhar: In a tragic incident, an owner of a medical store died after being hit by a truck going to Srinagar late at night near Sri Guru Nanak Mission Chowk in Jalandhar. The deceased has been identified as Saurav Dua (42), a resident of Jalandhar Cantt. His body was sent for postmortem late at night. Also, his last rites will be performed today at Harnamdaspur crematorium.
SHO Hardev Singh of Thana Division Number-4 said that this accident happened late on Wednesday night. Saurav used to live in Makdoompura earlier but now he has shifted to Jalandhar Cantt with his family. He was living there for the last 6 months. At around 10 pm, the police control room was informed that an accident had taken place at the said place after which the SHO reached the spot with his team.
The accident was so terrible that Saurav’s body was torn into several parts. After the truck passed over him, his body parts were lying far away. In such a situation, the police collected the said parts in an envelope and sent it for postmortem along with the body. The family members were informed about the incident late at night. An FIR has been registered on their statements.
According to the information, Saurav Dua was coming from BR Ambedkar (Nakodar Chowk) to Guru Nanak Mission Chowk on a scooter as usual. During this time this accident happened. However, immediately after the accident, the truck driver stopped his truck at the same place. The people nearby caught him and handed him over to the police when the police arrived. The police also took the truck in their possession late at night.
