Mumbai: Popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was tragically shot dead in 2022, continues to captivate millions of fans posthumously with his music. His latest track, Lock, has become an instant sensation, proving that his legacy remains alive and thriving.

Three years after his death, Sidhu’s songs continue to dominate the YouTube charts. His ninth posthumous track, Lock, was released on Thursday and has already garnered an impressive 7.9 million views in less than two days. The song, which runs for three minutes, features Sidhu’s signature vocals and music composed by The Kidd, with production by Navkaran Brar.

Lock follows a series of posthumous hits by Sidhu Moose Wala, each of which has achieved widespread popularity. His first posthumous track, SYL, released just a month after his death, addressed the contentious Sutlej-Yamuna Link canal issue and boldly declared Punjab’s refusal to share its water with other states. Despite receiving millions of views, the track was removed from YouTube due to its controversial nature. Later that year, Sidhu’s second posthumous release, Vaar, paid tribute to the bravery of Hari Singh Nalwa, the commander-in-chief of Khalsa Fauj under Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and has since amassed 63 million views.

In 2023, Sidhu released three more tracks. Mera Na, his third posthumous song, featured Nigerian rapper Burna Boy and UK-based composer Steel Banglez and accumulated 70 million views. His fourth release, Chorni, portrayed him as a fierce Jatt from Punjab’s Malwa region and achieved 78 million views. The fifth track, Watch Out, was another success that year, with 44 million views.

Last year saw the release of Drippy, a collaboration featuring Mxcri and AR Paisley, which became his most-viewed posthumous song with 90 million views. Another track, 410, followed and garnered 57 million views. The eighth posthumous track, Attach, released in 2024, has since racked up 31 million views.

Sidhu Moose Wala began his musical journey in 2016 but rose to prominence in 2018 with the release of his breakout hit So High and his debut album PBX 1. Even after his untimely demise, his music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, ensuring his presence remains eternal.
