Jammu: A soldier was wounded on Wednesday in an apparent sniper attack along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials reported that the incident took place in the Kalsian area of the Nowshera sector. The soldier sustained injuries from suspected sniper fire early in the morning.

The injured soldier was promptly airlifted to a hospital in Udhampur for treatment. Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to investigate further.

This follows an earlier incident in which a soldier was injured due to cross-border firing in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of the Poonch district. Pakistani forces had also engaged in unprovoked firing in the region, to which the Indian Army responded effectively, with reports indicating casualties on the Pakistani side of the LoC.

Earlier, on February 11, two Indian soldiers, including Captain Karamjit Singh Bakshi and Naik Mukesh, were killed, and another injured due to an IED explosion planted by terrorists in the Akhnoor sector along the LoC, raising tensions between the two armies.

Despite these incidents, the Indian Army has reiterated that the ceasefire agreement along the LoC remains in place, with both sides continuing to observe it according to their mutual understanding. The Army has stressed that while minor incidents like these are not uncommon, the situation is under control and being closely monitored.
