Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani becomes third highest-grossing re-release in India

Mumbai: The iconic film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, returned to Indian cinemas on 3rd January. On its re-release opening day, the film earned ₹1.90 crore, achieving the second-highest opening for a re-released movie in India. As audience demand increased, additional screenings were scheduled over.

Mumbai: The iconic film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, returned to Indian cinemas on 3rd January.

On its re-release opening day, the film earned ₹1.90 crore, achieving the second-highest opening for a re-released movie in India. As audience demand increased, additional screenings were scheduled over the weekend, driving the opening weekend collections to ₹6 crore. By the conclusion of its first week, the film had garnered ₹13 crore.

The re-release went on to earn ₹21 crore net (₹25 crore gross) at the Indian box office, making it the third highest-grossing re-release in India since 2000.

With a gross total of ₹25 crore, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani stands third on the list, following Tumbbad at ₹38 crore and Ghilli at ₹26.5 crore. Other notable films in the rankings include Titanic with ₹18 crore, Sholay 3D at ₹13 crore, and Laila Majnu and Rockstar, both collecting ₹11.5 crore. Avatar completes the list with ₹10 crore.

Originally released in 2013, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains one of the most beloved films of its time. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film portrays the journeys of four friends—Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), Naina (Deepika Padukone), Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur), and Aditi (Kalki Koechlin)—as they explore the complexities of love, friendship, and personal aspirations.
