Patna: Three teenagers tragically lost their lives after being struck by a train while playing the mobile game PUBG in West Champaran district, Bihar, on January 3. The incident took place near the Royal School at Mansa Tola along the Narkatiaganj-Muzaffarpur rail section, under the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station.
The victims, who were wearing earphones, were so absorbed in their game that they did not notice the oncoming train. This unfortunate distraction has left the local community in shock. The deceased have been identified as Furkan Alam from Railway Gumti, Sameer Alam from Bari Tola, and Habibullah Ansari.
In the wake of the incident, crowds of local residents gathered at the scene, grieving the loss. The families of the teenagers have taken their bodies home for burial.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Vivek Deep, along with Railway Police, is investigating the accident to determine what led to it. They are establishing communication for the bodies’ recovery for post-mortem examinations and are interviewing family members to gain insight into the circumstances. Preliminary findings indicate that the teens were playing on their phones while sitting on the tracks.
This heartbreaking incident has prompted mourning in the community and raised awareness about the risks of engaging in mobile gaming in dangerous locations, particularly on railway tracks. Authorities are urging parents to supervise their children’s gaming practices and educate them on the importance of being vigilant in public areas to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
