Tourist Crowds Surge at Himachal Pradesh’s Hill Stations for Weekend Getaway

In Shimla, the Mall Road and Ridge field were crowded with tourists on Saturday. Visitors enjoyed photography and horse riding at Ridge field. Many tourists also headed from Shimla to Kufri and Narakanda to enjoy snow activities.

Tourists reaching Kullu-Manali for snow activities also explored the Atal Tunnel Rohtang and Sissu. Navin Paul, president of the Shimla Travel Agents Association, noted that a significant number of tourists arrived in Shimla due to the January 26 holiday. Although tourists were disappointed by the lack of snow in the city, efforts were made to send them to Narakanda for a snow experience. Compared to last week, there has been an increase in the number of tourists this week. Rajendra Thakur, chairman of the All Himachal Commercial Vehicle Joint Action Committee, reported that more tourists are visiting this weekend than the previous one.

A considerable number of tourists are arriving in Shimla via the Kalka-Shimla toy train. Taxis for sightseeing in Shimla, Manali, and Dharamshala are also being booked well. Gajendra Singh Thakur, president of the Federation of All Himachal Hotels and Restaurants Association, highlighted that the upcoming weekend has seen an increase in tourist crowds in Himachal’s tourist destinations due to the January 26 holiday. If snowfall occurs in the coming days, the number of tourists is expected to rise even further.
