Chandigarh : On Tuesday, a hearing was held in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the farmers’ movement. The High Court said that no tractor can carry a trolley on the highway. The court referred to the Motor Vehicles Act for this. A large crowd should not be allowed to gather at the Shambhu and Khanauri border but the right to protest has also its scope.
During the hearing, the high court ordered the central government to submit a report on the outcome of the February 18 meeting between farmers and union ministers in Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the High Court ordered the protesting farmers’ unions that the farmers should not use tractor wagons and JCBs to march to Delhi but use buses or other public transport to travel to Delhi. The Supreme Court directed the Punjab government not to allow farmers to assemble in large numbers.
