Hyderabad: A stampede occurred at a Hyderabad theatre during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2’ on December 4, resulting in injuries to a woman and a boy. The incident took place at Sandhya Theatre, where police had to use batons to control the crowd, which had swelled as fans rushed to see actor Allu Arjun, who was present for the premiere.
The situation became tense outside the busy theatre, causing the main gate to collapse amidst the chaos. Both injured individuals were taken to the hospital, while additional police personnel were deployed to enhance security as Allu Arjun remained inside the venue.
‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ directed by Sukumar, is set to release in multiple languages on December 5, with premiere shows held at 9:30 p.m. on December 4 in select theatres across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 hit ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ will be screened in over 10,000 theatres in 2D and 4DX formats, although its 3D version was canceled due to post-production delays.
Rashmika Mandanna stars as the female lead, with Fahadh Faasil reprising his role along with a supporting cast that includes Anasuya Bharadwaj and Daali Dhananjaya. Ticket prices have increased in the Telugu states amid the film’s anticipation, prompting a public interest litigation in the Telangana High Court challenging this hike, although the court did not prevent the film’s release.
