Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky called PM Modi on Thursday and congratulated him on his victory in the Lok Sabha elections. After this, he appealed for India’s participation in the peace conference to be held in Switzerland on 15-16 June.

Zelensky gave this information through a post on the social media platform. We also talked about the Global Peace Summit. I hope that India will definitely participate in it.”

In a post on social media, Modi said, “It was a pleasure to talk to President Zelensky. I thanked him for congratulating the NDA on its historic victory in the general elections. We both agreed to strengthen the partnership between India and Ukraine.” Ukraine made a 10-point plan for Swiss Peace Summit

PM Modi posted on Social Media

Earlier on June 5, Zelensky had also congratulated PM Modi for his third term. The purpose of the Ukraine Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland is to discuss the options related to ending the war going on for two and a half years between Russia and Ukraine. For this, Ukraine has also prepared a 10-point plan. This plan talks about the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and holding Russia responsible for war crimes.

However, Russia has not been invited to this conference. According to the Swiss Foreign Ministry, so far 80 countries have confirmed their participation in this conference. At the same time, according to Zelensky’s spokesperson, 107 countries and international organizations have agreed to attend the conference.

At the same time, US President Biden has refused to attend this conference. In his place, US Vice President Kamala Harris will attend this summit.

‘Ukraine wants to provoke other countries against Russia in the conference’

Apart from this, China also refused to attend this summit at the end of last month. Putin, who visited China last month after being elected President of Russia for the 5th time, had said that through the Swiss summit, Ukraine wants to incite other countries against Russia and get them on its side.

After this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov suggested that China should organize a conference in which both Ukraine and Russia should be invited. Through this, talks can be held on peace.

Earlier on March 20, PM Modi had called Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky on the same day. During the conversation with both the leaders at a difference of a few hours, he talked about stopping the war.

After congratulating Putin on becoming President for the 5th time, PM Modi had said that Russia-Ukraine should resolve the issue through diplomacy and talks. India has always supported ending the war soon and peace. During the call, Putin and Zelensky also invited Modi to visit their respective countries after the Lok Sabha elections.
