Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh had resigned from the post of minister for not installing the statue of his father and 6-time CM Virbhadra Singh on the Ridge of Shimla. Now his wish has been fulfilled. The statue of Virbhadra Singh was brought to Shimla last night. Today it has been installed in Daulat Singh Park of the Ridge.
Virbhadra’s statue will be unveiled on July 15 in the presence of national leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge etc. Virbhadra Singh’s statue has been installed next to the statue of the Himachal creator and first Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar. It will be kept covered till the unveiling.
Shimla’s Ridge is famous all over the world from a tourism point of view. Statues of veteran leaders like Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee are already installed here. Now, Virbhadra Singh’s statue has also been installed. Virbhadra Singh died on 8 July 2021.
Unveiling program postponed on Virbhadra Jayanti
Vikramaditya Singh himself went to Delhi and invited Sonia, Priyanka Gandhi and other national leaders for the unveiling program of this statue. Earlier, this statue was to be unveiled on 23 June on Virbhadra Jayanti. But, due to Sonia-Priyanka’s program scheduled at another place on that day, it has now been decided to unveil the statue on 15 July.
