New Delhi: The promotion of women’s and children’s development and welfare will be a primary focus during an upcoming three-day Chintan Shivir organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development from January 10 to 12 in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

The event will convene key stakeholders, including dignitaries and senior officials from both Central and State Governments, to facilitate impactful policy decisions and effective implementation of welfare programs aimed at supporting the nation’s most vulnerable populations, as outlined in an official statement.

Annapurna Devi, the Women and Child Development Minister, will open the Shivir, and Savitri Thakur, the Minister of State for WCD, will provide updates on ongoing initiatives.

Prominent figures such as Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, and various Ministers from WCD Departments of States and Union Territories will also take part in the discussions.

Sessions will cover crucial initiatives such as Mission Vatsalya, Mission Shakti, and Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. The aim is to address important challenges and strategize the enhancement of welfare for women and child development across India.

Minister Annapurna Devi will emphasize the government’s dedication to women’s and children’s welfare through the Ministry’s key initiatives.

The Shivir will showcase successful practices from different States and Union Territories, focusing on effective approaches to tackle issues faced by women and children, alongside discussions on how to expand these practices across districts for improved service delivery.

Open discussions among representatives from States and Union Territories will provide an opportunity to tackle challenges, exchange ideas, and collaborate on problem-solving to ensure ongoing programs effectively address the needs of the targeted groups.

Key topics include:

  • Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0: Enhancing Anganwadi Centres as comprehensive hubs for nutrition, education, health, and awareness.
  • Mission Vatsalya: Improving child welfare through better childcare institutions, foster care, adoption, and aftercare.
  • Mission Shakti: Tackling issues such as women’s safety, child marriage, and harnessing technology to empower women, notably via the SHe-Box portal.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is co-hosting this initiative with the Rajasthan government.
