The opening of the international airport in Ludhiana, Punjab, now hinges on a mail from the Civil Aviation Ministry. As soon as the Civil Aviation Ministry’s mail reaches the Airport Authority of India, flights will commence from the Ludhiana International Airport in Halwara. The central and state governments have jointly formed a company to operate the airport.
Ludhiana International Airport Limited (LIAL) will operate the airport. The government has handed over the Ludhiana International Airport in Halwara to the company. The Punjab Police will be responsible for airport security. The Punjab Police have submitted a list of 58 employees to the company, including an inspector-level officer.
According to Pankaj Kumar, Director of the Airport Authority of India, Ludhiana Airport, Halwara Airport is now fully ready. The security staff will receive technical training. The employees have been shortlisted for this purpose. The airport will be operational as soon as the mail regarding the airport’s opening arrives.
The inauguration was scheduled for November 25th.
The Civil Aviation Ministry had scheduled the airport inauguration for November 25th, but this date has been postponed due to a lack of technical training for the security staff. Director Punjab Kumar stated that the staff will receive technical training soon.
Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate the Airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ludhiana International Airport. It is reported that the airport’s inauguration date will be announced as soon as the Civil Aviation Ministry receives an appointment from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
