New Delhi: Releasing its 17th list for the Lok Sabha elections, BJP nominated Dinesh Pratap Singh from Rae Bareli seat and Karan Bhushan Singh from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh.

It was expected that due to protests of women wrestlers and sexual harassment accusations against Brij Bhushan Singh, BJP will not be giving ticket to him from Kaiserganj. Today, instead of him, BJP gave ticket to Karan Bhushan Singh, son of Brij Bhushan from the Kaiserganj seat where the latter has a strong hold.
Brij Bhushan Singh, sitting MP from the Kaiserganj seat has been dropped by BJP. Trying to play safe, BJP gave ticket to Karan Singh.
Karan Bhushan Singh is presently the president of the Uttar Pradesh wrestling association. Polling will be held in Kaiserganj in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 20. The last date of nomination from the seat is also coming.
The president of the Wrestling Federation of India for over a decade, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh hit the headlines in 2023, when the country’s top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, accused him of sexually harassing women wrestlers and staged a massive protest in the national capital.
