LPG Booking Interval Reduced to 25 Days for Rural Consumers in Rajasthan

Jaipur: In a major relief for LPG consumers in rural areas of Rajasthan, the interval for booking the next domestic cooking gas cylinder has been reduced by 20 days. Rural consumers will now be able to book their next LPG cylinder after 25 days instead of the earlier 45-day waiting period.

The 45-day booking restriction was introduced by the Petroleum Ministry following the gas shortage triggered by the Iran-US war that began in March. The reduction in the booking interval is expected to provide relief to rural households that regularly require LPG cylinders.

Petroleum Ministry Directs Oil Companies to Reduce Gap

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed the three major oil marketing companies — Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) — to set the cylinder booking interval at 25 days for rural consumers as well as urban consumers.

The 25-day interval was already applicable to consumers in urban areas.

LPG Supply Improves, Ministry Reviews Booking System

The ministry reviewed the arrangement after the LPG supply situation improved following the end of the war and the backlog of pending booking orders declined significantly.

The decision is expected to particularly benefit families with higher domestic LPG consumption, for whom the earlier 45-day gap had become a significant constraint.

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price Remains at Rs 945.50

Oil companies did not increase the price of domestic LPG cylinders in September. A domestic cooking gas cylinder continues to be available in the market for Rs 945.50.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Costs Rs 2,775 in Jaipur

Oil companies increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 10 in September. According to the new rate list, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Jaipur now costs Rs 2,775, up from Rs 2,765.

Before this, companies had reduced the price of commercial cylinders by Rs 192 in August and Rs 183.50 in July.
