LPG cylinder shortage: Fuel supplies stable, consumers urged to move from LPG to PNG, says govt

New Delhi: Amid concerns over a shortage of LPG cylinders in certain areas, the government has clarified that overall fuel supplies remain stable and there is no need for panic among consumers.

Government Assures Adequate Fuel Availability

Authorities stated that there is no disruption in the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the national level. Temporary shortages reported in some regions are being addressed through logistical adjustments and improved distribution.

Officials emphasised that the supply chain remains intact and sufficient stocks are available to meet consumer demand.

Push for Transition to PNG

In light of the situation, the government has encouraged consumers to consider shifting from LPG to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), where infrastructure is available. PNG is being promoted as a more convenient and continuous fuel option, especially for urban households.

The transition is also expected to ease pressure on LPG distribution networks and improve overall efficiency in fuel usage.
