Amid concerns triggered by the ongoing West Asia crisis, the Government of India has assured that domestic LPG supply remains normal across the country. According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, more than 55 lakh LPG cylinder refills were delivered in a single day, indicating steady availability.
Officials confirmed that there have been no reports of βdry outsβ at LPG distributorships, reinforcing that supply chains are functioning smoothly despite global disruptions.
The government has also reassured citizens that petrol and diesel stocks are sufficient across all regions. Authorities stated that fuel is available at all retail outlets and refineries are operating at high capacity with adequate crude oil inventories.
This comes at a time when global energy supply chains are under pressure due to geopolitical tensions, including disruptions in key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
Officials noted that LPG bookings and demand have increased significantly in recent days, largely due to panic buying fueled by rumours. Despite this surge, the government has managed to maintain steady deliveries, crossing 55 lakh refills in a day.
Authorities have urged citizens not to engage in panic booking, stating that supplies are adequate and distribution systems are working efficiently.
To maintain uninterrupted fuel availability, the government has implemented several proactive measures. These include increasing refinery output, securing crude oil supplies, and enhancing logistics for faster distribution.
Additionally, the government has increased monitoring of fuel outlets and LPG distributorships. Surprise inspections have been carried out at over 1,200 locations, and strict action is being taken against irregularities.
Authorities have intensified action against hoarding and black marketing to prevent artificial shortages. Enforcement agencies have conducted thousands of raids and seized illegally stored LPG cylinders.
Delivery systems have also been strengthened with the use of authentication mechanisms to ensure that LPG cylinders reach genuine consumers without diversion.
Despite disruptions in global shipping routes, India has managed to maintain its fuel imports. Recently, LPG carriers carrying nearly 94,000 metric tonnes of fuel safely navigated the Gulf region and are en route to Indian ports.
Port operations across the country remain normal, ensuring that fuel supplies continue to reach domestic markets without delays.
The government has repeatedly advised citizens not to believe misinformation circulating on social media regarding fuel shortages. Officials stressed that rumours have contributed to unnecessary panic buying in some areas.
Citizens have been encouraged to rely only on official communication and avoid hoarding fuel or LPG cylinders.
