LPU Violence Case: Nearly 30 People on Punjab Police Radar, Influencer Under Scanner

Phagwara: Punjab Police, investigating the violence at Lovely Professional University (LPU), have identified approximately 30 people who are suspected of being involved in the violent incidents. Police are now examining CCTV footage, videos posted on social media, and other digital evidence.

Social media influencer also under scrutiny

During the investigation, the name of a social media influencer associated with LPU has also surfaced. He has been seen in some videos near the university’s Department of Student Welfare (DSW) building. Police are investigating the authenticity of these videos and his connection to the entire incident.

However, the influencer has denied allegations of involvement in the violence. He says he went to the DSW building to appeal to students not to damage university property. He has also denied allegations of inviting outsiders onto campus.

CCTV and Social Media Video Investigation

Police are trying to understand the sequence of events by comparing videos circulating on social media with the original CCTV footage. Officials say the videos will be verified before determining any individual’s role.

SIT Formed in Violence Case

The Punjab Police has formed an eight-member SIT to investigate the violence and arson incidents at LPU. The team is examining CCTV footage and other digital evidence.

The violence erupted when unverified reports of a student’s alleged rape circulated on social media. The police and university administration are also investigating these claims and the events surrounding their spread.

The investigation is ongoing, and no final conclusions have been reached regarding any individual’s role until the police investigation is complete.
