Lucknow, April 5: In a major crackdown on illegal trade, police in Lucknow seized fake cigarettes worth approximately ₹10 lakh during a raid. The crime branch and local police found bundles of cigarettes in car in the Zero Point area of Para. Two smugglers from Madhya Pradesh were arrested in connection with the case.
According to officials, the accused were using a car to transport and distribute counterfeit cigarettes across different regions. The police have also seized the vehicle used in the operation.
Investigations revealed that the accused were actively supplying fake cigarettes in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar targeting local markets with counterfeit products.
Police have intensified their crackdown on smuggling networks dealing in counterfeit goods. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to uncover the wider network involved in the illegal trade. Authorities are continuing their investigation to trace the origin of the fake cigarettes and identify other members of the supply chain.
