Women protest LPG shortage in Lucknow, slam govt

Anger erupted among residents in Lucknow after several women complained about not receiving LPG cylinders despite repeatedly booking refills. Many alleged that they had called the gas agency more than 40 times, yet the cylinder was not delivered. Frustrated with the situation, women openly questioned the government and asked, “Are these the promised good days?”

According to local residents, the shortage has made it extremely difficult for families to cook daily meals. Women said that despite following proper procedures for booking cylinders, the supply had not reached their homes for several days, forcing them to look for alternative cooking methods.

Residents threaten to return to villages

Some women expressed deep frustration over the situation and said that if cooking gas was not available in the city, they would be forced to return to their villages. They said the lack of gas cylinders had disrupted their daily lives and left families struggling to manage household chores.

Several households claimed their kitchens had been non-functional for days due to empty cylinders. The residents accused the distribution system of being inefficient and called on authorities to ensure regular gas supply.

The situation worsened after many residents faced problems while booking gas refills online or through helpline numbers. Technical glitches in booking systems reportedly forced people to stand in long queues outside gas agencies to register their requests manually.

Residents said the uncertainty surrounding supply and booking difficulties had created panic among consumers, with many fearing that the shortage could continue for several days.

Meanwhile, authorities in Uttar Pradesh have started monitoring LPG distribution more closely and launched a crackdown against black marketing and irregular supply. Officials have conducted inspections and raids to ensure that cylinders reach genuine consumers and are not diverted illegally.

The state government has stated that LPG stocks are sufficient and that steps are being taken to maintain uninterrupted supply across districts. Officials have also set up control rooms to address complaints and monitor the distribution system.
