Lucknow Voter List Drops by 9 Lakh After SIR Revision
Uttar Pradesh, April 10: The final voter list for Lucknow has been released under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. Prior to the SIR, Lucknow had 3,994,535 voters; following the release of the final list, the number stands at 3,080,350. Consequently, the city has witnessed a reduction of 914,185 voters.
April 10 marked the final day of this process conducted by the Election Commission of India, providing voters with their last opportunity to make changes to the list. Compiled on the basis of January 1, 2026, this list incorporates data from Lucknow’s nine Assembly constituencies. Among these, the Sarojini Nagar Assembly constituency has emerged as the largest, with 460,037 voters. Conversely, the Cantt Assembly constituency recorded the highest decline in voters, at 34.18 percent.
Extensive Campaign Conducted Across 9 Assembly Constituencies
For the past several months, a special, intensive revision campaign was carried out across nine assembly constituencies in the state capital, Lucknow. During this period, work was undertaken on a massive scale to update the voter list; this involved adding new voters while removing the names of deceased, relocated, and duplicate individuals.
What Transpired During the SIR Process?
During the Special Intensive Revision Campaign, the Election Commission undertook efforts at multiple levels to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the voter list. As part of this process, the names of deceased voters were removed; individuals who had relocated out of the city were delisted; and duplicate entries were identified and eliminated.
