Lucky Oberoi Murder: No breakthrough after 24 hours, cremation today

Lucky Oberoi, a leader of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Jalandhar, Punjab, was shot dead. No breakthrough has been made in the case, even 24 hours after the murder. Gangster Joga Pholriwal claimed responsibility for the killing in a social media post, stating that the motive was related to the presidency of Khalsa College.

DGP Gaurav Yadav visited spot

DGP Gaurav Yadav himself visited Jalandhar, spoke with officials, and indicated a Pakistani link in the supply of weapons to the gangsters. The police have registered an FIR at Police Station Division-6 based on the family’s statements.

Five bullets recovered

Lucky Oberoi was shot at 7:30 AM on February 6th. The post-mortem was conducted at 8:57 PM. Five bullets were recovered from his body: one in the right side of his neck, two in the right side of his abdomen, and two in his chest.

Besides being involved in politics, Lucky Oberoi was also a real estate businessman. The 43-year-old is survived by his mother, wife, two daughters, and a son. After the post-mortem, the police placed the body in a freezer at the crematorium in Kishanpura. His funeral will be held today.

Oberoi was the AAP’s ward in-charge for Ward-35 in Jalandhar Cantonment. He had celebrated his birthday on January 27th
