Ludhiana: Bike theft from parking lot in 25 seconds, 20 vehicles stolen so far

Thieves have openly challenged the police and administration from the parking lot of the Municipal Corporation office at Mata Rani Chowk in Ludhiana. In this crowded area, a thief broke the lock, stole a bike, and fled in just 25 seconds. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, exposing the police’s claims of patrolling and security.

Victim Gaurav Verma said that he had parked his bike as usual near the main gate of the Municipal Corporation office and gone to his shop. When he returned in the evening, his bike was missing.

What the CCTV footage showed

The footage clearly shows a young man wearing a black T-shirt approaching on foot. He cleverly sits on a stall near the bike to avoid suspicion. As soon as he gets a chance, he stands up, breaks the bike’s lock, kicks it, and flees with the bike within just 25 seconds.

Shopkeepers express anger: Sunday is a day for theft

This incident occurred on Sunday. Shopkeepers in the area have expressed strong anger against the police administration. They allege that over 20 bikes and Activas have been stolen from this parking lot in the past few months.

Surprisingly, most of the incidents occur on Sundays. Shopkeepers said, “We feel unsafe here. Vehicles are disappearing from the government parking lot, while the police sit idle. We have demanded that special patrols be increased here on Sundays.”
