Ludhiana: Panic gripped the Kochhar Market area of ​​Ludhiana when a bus full of children suddenly collided with high-tension wires. The bus was carrying approximately 55 children from Sangrur who had come to participate in a sports competition. The accident was so devastating that sparks flew across the area for a few moments, forcing people to flee their homes.

Fortunately, all the children are safe and no injuries were reported. However, the accident caused a power outage in the area, as high-tension line wires broke and fell to the ground.

People took the children out

The accident occurred around 8:45 pm. Locals present at the scene acted swiftly and safely rescued the children trapped inside the bus. Electrical department teams were immediately called to the scene, shutting down the power supply and beginning repair work.

Social activist and advocate Rajesh Raja, who arrived at the scene after the incident, questioned the administration. He said it was sheer luck that nothing untoward happened. Wires are hanging in many places in Kochhar Market, but the electricity department is turning a blind eye.

Had the electricity been on, many innocent lives could have been lost today. Rajesh Raja also said that he had repeatedly complained to the department about the high wires and the sagging lines, but no action was taken. This is pure administrative negligence.

The driver said – I could not see the wires in the dark

The bus driver said that due to darkness and the streetlights being off, he couldn’t see the wires. Suddenly, a spark emerged, frightening the children. Following the accident, the administration has ordered an investigation. While the electricity department is working to replace the wires, power remained out in Kochhar Market and the surrounding area for three hours.

People raised questions on the administration

Residents of the area say this accident is the result of gross negligence on the part of the administration. In many places, the wires hang so low that a major accident could occur at any moment. They have demanded that the electricity department inspect all high-tension lines as soon as possible to prevent similar incidents in the future.
