Ludhiana Businessman gets Rs 1 crore extortion call

Criminals are emboldened in Ludhiana. The latest case is from the Sarabha Nagar area, where a businessman received a call from an overseas number demanding a ransom of ₹1 crore. The caller explicitly stated that if the money was not paid, the businessman and his entire family would be killed. The victim’s family has been in panic since this threat.

Complainant Gurpreet Singh told the police that on February 10th, at around 6:50 p.m., while he was at home, he received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number (+1-619-606-0307).

Immediately after the call was disconnected, a message arrived from the same number. The message directly demanded ₹1 crore. The accused bluntly warned that if the money was not arranged, he should be prepared for the consequences.

Family lives abroad

According to information, businessman Gurpreet Singh previously owned a water plant. Currently, he lives at home, while his family lives abroad. The businessman’s threats have created an atmosphere of fear in the area.

Based on the victim’s complaint, the Sarabha Nagar police station has registered a case. Police are now investigating two aspects: whether an international gangster is behind this extortion or whether a miscreant used a foreign virtual number to spread terror.
