2 inmates including assistant superintendent of Ludhiana Jail arrested, drugs and phones recovered

The Assistant Superintendent of Ludhiana Central Jail in Punjab has been arrested by police in a drug case. Two undertrials were also arrested along with him. This checking was done with the help of CRPF personnel.

According to the police, the drugs were concealed by double-taping the body of an LED light. Ten mobile phones were also hidden inside. When the police apprehended the two undertrials, they revealed the Assistant Superintendent’s name during interrogation.

Not only this, when the police brought the Assistant Superintendent to court, they did not handcuff him so that the media could not identify him. However, when photographs were taken, the Assistant Superintendent tried to hide his face.

Late in the evening, a case was registered against the three accused under sections 20, 22, 29, and 52-A(1). The case was registered based on the statements of Jagjit Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Security, Central Jail.

DSP Security searched and revealed the truth:

DSP Security Jagjit Singh, along with CRPF personnel, conducted a search at Ludhiana Central Jail at 3:30 pm on Saturday. During this, an LED was installed outside the jail barracks. When it was inspected, a narcotic substance was found stuck to a body with double tape. The inspection team was stunned.

Drugs and 10 mobile phones recovered

According to DSP Security Jagjit Singh, the search yielded 84 grams of brown narcotic substance and 121 grams of black narcotic substance. In addition, 10 mobile phones were found. These were immediately confiscated. Jail staff present were questioned about the contents, but none could provide any answers.

All the belongings belonged to two hawala operators

According to DSP Security, a thorough investigation later revealed that all the belongings belonged to two hawala operators, Firozuddin and Deepak. Both of them had hatched this conspiracy in violation of jail rules. The prisoner, Firozuddin, is a resident of Tallewal village, and Deepak is a resident of the Labor Colony in Jawahar Nagar Camp. Both prisoners were subsequently interrogated.
