CGST Ludhiana unearths GST evasion worth Rs 62 crore; two arrested so far

Ludhiana, July 31: Based on specific intelligence, Central GST Ludhiana conducted an investigation against several firms in the audio-video production sector, in which GST evasion worth Rs 62 crore has been revealed. Preliminary investigation revealed that these firms had imported services worth Rs 342 crore from foreign entities and did not pay GST on them.

The investigation also revealed that these firms did not follow any of the documentary procedures prescribed under the GST laws, which makes it clear that this tax evasion was well planned and deliberate.

Two persons involved in running and setting up these firms were arrested yesterday, i.e., on July 30, 2025. With these two arrests made so far, the investigation is still ongoing to uncover the entire chain of this network and the total amount of theft.
