Ludhiana: Cop dies after being hit by truck during morning walk

A police officer died in a road accident in Ludhiana, Punjab, on Friday morning. He had gone for his morning walk at around 5:30 a.m., as usual. An unknown truck driver hit him near a girls’ college and fled the scene.

The accident was so severe that the officer’s head was severely crushed, and both legs were broken. According to eyewitnesses, he fell face down on the road and remained there, covered in blood, for a long time. The deceased’s name is Tarsem Singh (50).

He was posted in the court complex

The deceased lived in police quarters and was assigned to a judge in the Ludhiana court complex. Police are not releasing his identity at this time.

Passersby informed the police

When people went out for a morning walk and saw him lying on the road, they immediately informed the police. Police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and placed it in the mortuary for a post-mortem. The deceased’s family also arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the accident. The family is in a state of grief.

Police are examining CCTV footage

Police from Division No. 8 Police Station are investigating the case. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined. Traffic police at all intersections in the city have also been alerted to apprehend the unidentified vehicle and its driver as soon as possible. Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver and have begun an investigation.
