Ludhiana: Dalit youth tied to pillar, beaten brutally with sticks, belts over pigeon theft allegations

In Ludhiana, some people abducted a Dalit youth from his home, tied him to a pillar, and beat him. A video of the young man being tied to the pillar and beaten with sticks has surfaced. The abductors accused him of stealing pigeons.

The accused went to his home and abducted him. They tied him to a pillar in their house and severely beat him. They also filmed the incident. The incident occurred in the village of Gorisian Khan Mohammad, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sidhwa Bet police station in Ludhiana Rural.

The young man has filed a complaint with SSP Ludhiana Rural Ankur Gupta. The police have not yet taken any action in the matter. A family in the village of Gorisian Khan Mohammad had their pigeons stolen. They suspected Harpreet Singh, a resident of the same village. On February 20th, about half a dozen people went to Harpreet’s house early in the morning and abducted him and took him away.

Taken home and tied to a pillar

They took Harpreet to their house and tied him to a pillar inside the house. Harpreet was then beaten with sticks and belts. His back bears the marks of the sticks. He pleaded that he hadn’t stolen the pigeons, but they continued to beat him.

The victim, Harpreet Singh, said that his parents had followed him there. He pleaded with them with folded hands, but they refused and continued beating him. His father then informed Comrade Baljit Singh.

The police rescued Harpreet and took him to the police station.

Comrade Baljit Singh said that when Harpreet’s father contacted him, he immediately informed the police. Police arrived at the scene, freed Harpreet from the pillar, and took him to the police station. The police informed them that he was accused of pigeon theft.

Comrade Baljit Singh said that he reported the matter to the police and had Harpreet medically examined at the Civil Hospital, Jagraon. He had injury marks on his back. But the police did not register a case against the accused.

Video made viral

Harpreet Singh stated that the accused made a video of him and made it viral, causing him embarrassment. He stated that he has filed a complaint with the SSP in this matter.

The victim has also submitted videos and photographs related to the incident to the police. Inspector Hamraj Singh, in-charge of Sidhwan Bet police station, stated that the police are conducting a thorough investigation and will soon take legal action based on the facts.
