Fraud Allegations Against MLA Aide in Ludhiana Over Fake Municipal Job Promise

The appointment letters subsequently issued to them by the accused were found to be forged upon investigation. The police at Division No. 2 Police Station have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC against the accused, Nikhil Sabharwal, a resident of Ajit Nagar. The police are currently on the lookout for the accused.

Accused Met Outside Office; Claimed to be Close to the MLA

The complainant, Ramandeep Singh (34), a resident of Islam Ganj, stated that he works on an ad-hoc basis at the de-addiction center within the Civil Hospital. In October 2023, he visited MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi’s office in the hope of securing a permanent job. At that time, the MLA was not present in the office. Outside, he encountered the accused, Nikhil Sabharwal, who introduced himself as the MLA’s personal assistant (PA).

Assured Them of Clerk Positions in the Corporation

The accused assured them that he could secure them jobs as clerks within the municipal corporation. Ramandeep also introduced his friend, Prabhjot Singh a resident of Jamalpur Awana and an ad hoc employee at the Civil Hospital’s blood bank, to the accused.

Money Transferred via UPI

According to the complainant, the accused demanded ₹1.10 lakh from each of them in exchange for securing the jobs. On October 14, 2023, Ramandeep transferred two installments of ₹49,000 each to the accused via UPI. Meanwhile, the accused initially took ₹2,000 from Prabhjot Singh and subsequently extorted an additional ₹20,000 on March 25, 2024, followed by another ₹50,000 on June 22, 2024.

Forged Appointment Letters Exposed

After a considerable amount of time had passed without them receiving the jobs, both men demanded a refund of their money. In response, the accused sent an appointment letter claiming to have been selected for a position at the Municipal Corporation. When the complainants verified this at the Municipal Corporation office, they discovered that the letter was forged. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the police.

MLA States: Filed Complaint Himself Upon Discovering the Fraud

Regarding this matter, MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi stated that the accused is an acquaintance of his and resides near his home. The MLA asserted that as soon as he became aware of the accused’s fraudulent activities, he himself filed a complaint against him. He clarified that he has no dealings whatsoever with such an unscrupulous individual.

It is reported that the accused had identified himself on his Facebook account as the “Assembly Office in charge” for the MLA. He had also posted several photographs featuring the MLA, including pictures from a birthday celebration held on January 4, 2024.
