Ludhiana: Fire breaks out in private school’s generator room due to short circuit; children sent home

Panic ensued on Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in the generator room of a private school in Dugri Phase-1, Ludhiana. Classes were in session at the time of the incident.

Upon seeing smoke and flames rising from the generator room, the school management immediately alerted the fire department. As a precautionary measure, the school was closed early, and all students were sent home safely. Timely action averted a major tragedy.

According to reports, smoke suddenly began billowing from the generator room located on the school premises around 9:00 AM. Flames soon became visible, causing panic among the staff and management. Without delay, employees implemented safety protocols to evacuate the children safely and summoned the fire brigade. Simultaneously, they began efforts to extinguish the fire themselves.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the school. Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit as the cause of the fire, though a detailed inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, the MLA for the Atam Nagar constituency, visited the school. He inquired about the incident from the management and assessed the safety and relief measures in place. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries to any students, teachers, or staff members. Sidhu emphasized that the safety of the children is paramount and stated that a thorough investigation into the matter would be conducted.
