Ludhiana: Fraud Case Filed Against Man for Cheating Ex-Akali Dal (Amritsar) Candidate Over Election Material Deal

Ludhiana: Dugri police have registered a case of fraud against an accused who allegedly cheated a former Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) assembly candidate in a deal involving election posters and campaign material.

The complaint was filed by Navneet Kumar, who stated that he had contested from the Ludhiana West assembly constituency and had set up his election office in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar’s E-Block Market during the election period.

Deal for Election Material Turns Fraud Allegation
According to Navneet Kumar, the accused Inderjit Singh visited his office on June 2, 2025, and quoted a total cost of ₹3 lakh for preparing election posters and campaign material.

The complainant said he paid an advance of ₹80,000 as agreed. However, despite repeated follow-ups, the accused neither delivered the promised material nor provided a proper bill.

Failure to Provide Bills Raises Suspicion
When the complainant asked for valid invoices in line with Election Commission guidelines, the accused allegedly avoided the request.

Navneet Kumar further claimed that without proper billing, it became impossible to account for election expenses, indicating deliberate cheating by the accused. He also alleged that the advance payment was neither returned nor adjusted.

Police Register Case After Investigation
After a detailed investigation, Dugri Police Station registered a case against Inderjit Singh under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police have begun further investigation to determine whether the accused has cheated other individuals in a similar manner.
