Ludhiana Industrialists to Stage Protest Against PPCB Notices, 13 Associations Extend Support

May 25, 2026

Ludhiana: The industrial sector of Ludhiana has launched a protest campaign against the functioning and alleged harassment tactics of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB). In opposition to the baseless show-cause notices being issued to industrial units by the PPCB and the unnecessary harassment they are being subjected to industrialists from across the city are uniting today (May 25) to stage a sit-in demonstration.

Protest to Begin at 11:00 AM

This protest directed against the Board’s policies and the alleged arbitrary conduct of its officials will be held today at exactly 11:00 AM in front of the PPCB office located at Focal Point. The organizers have appealed to all industrialists in the city to join this sit-in in large numbers to demonstrate their solidarity and ensure the protection of the industrial sector.

Industry’s Unanimous Demand: End the Harassment

The industrialists allege that the PPCB is issuing notices to industrial units without any concrete basis, a practice that is not only disrupting their operations but also subjecting them to mental harassment. The primary objective of this sit-in is to convey a stern message to the Board: this harassment of industries will no longer be tolerated.

Support for the Sit-in from Numerous Associations

All major industrial organizations in Ludhiana have united on a single platform for this massive demonstration. The sit-in enjoys the direct support of several associations, including the United Cycles and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), the Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organizations (FICO), the Fasteners Manufacturers Association of India, the Association of Trade and Industrial Undertakings, the Apex Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Punjab), the Induction Furnace Association of North India, the Fasteners Suppliers Association, Laghu Udyog Bharati (Ludhiana), the Ludhiana Steel Brokers Welfare Association, the Ludhiana Wire Manufacturers Association, the Ludhiana Hand Tools Association, the Small Scale Industries and Traders Association, and the Small Scale Miller Ganj Welfare Association.
