Young Man Murdered in Ludhiana; Head Crushed with Stones, Body Found in Vacant Plot; Two Arrested

Ludhina: A young man was brutally murdered near Sherpur Chowk in Ludhiana. His body was found lying in a vacant plot. The victim’s face had been repeatedly struck with stones, leaving it so severely disfigured that the police have been unable to establish his identity.

The police at Division No. 6 Police Station have registered a case of murder against two individuals and have initiated an investigation. Both accused have since been arrested.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they needed money to purchase alcohol. Consequently, they accosted the young man near a liquor shop and dragged him to the vacant plot. There, they stole the money from his pockets and killed him.

The police obtained CCTV footage showing two young men carrying a third individual on their shoulders. It was this footage that led to the apprehension of the two accused.

CCTV Footage Leads Police to Two Suspects

According to reports, the police received information on the morning of Tuesday, May 26, that the body of an unidentified individual was lying in a vacant plot near NPC Transport. Upon receiving this information, the police immediately rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area and commenced their investigation.

The police began by examining the CCTV footage from the nearby cameras. The footage, recorded at night, showed two individuals dragging a third person by his shoulders. This led the police to suspect that these two individuals were responsible for murdering the young man and subsequently dumping his body in the vacant plot.

Accused Arrested from Their Homes After Manhunt

The police immediately launched a manhunt for the two accused. Following inquiries with local residents, the police successfully identified the two suspects. A police team was formed to conduct a raid, and both accused were arrested at their respective homes.

The investigation revealed that the deceased was under the influence of alcohol and was sitting near a liquor shop which sold both country liquor and Indian-made foreign liquor near Sherpur Chowk. At that very moment, the two accused arrived at the spot after purchasing alcohol from the shop. Both accused are reportedly habitual drinkers.

Crime Driven by Robbery for Liquor Purchase

The accused confessed to the police that they wanted to purchase more alcohol but did not have the necessary funds. Consequently, they hatched a plan to rob someone. They spotted a young man sitting right in front of a liquor shop. They struck up a conversation with him and taking him along, led him to a secluded spot.

According to the police, the two accused supported the unidentified youth and guided him into a nearby vacant plot. Once there, they took the money from his pockets. When he resisted, the duo brutally assaulted him, repeatedly striking his face and head with stones. Subsequently, leaving the youth in critical condition within the plot, the accused fled the scene. The youth later succumbed to his injuries.

Case Registered, Investigation Underway

The police have registered a case in this matter against Sandeep Srivastava, a resident of Hardoi (Uttar Pradesh) and Ishaq Ali, a resident of Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh), under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the BNS. The police stated that the interrogation of both individuals is currently underway.
