Ludhiana: 16-year-old girl gives birth, probe on

A shocking incident has come to light in Ludhiana. A 16-year-old girl has given birth to a child. When her mother asked her about the child and whose it was, she told her mother that a shopkeeper and his friend had raped her.

The victim’s mother told the police that on March 5, 2026, her daughter began experiencing back pain. When her condition worsened, they took her to Jain Hospital in Jodhewal Basti, where the doctor prescribed pain medication. As the pain increased in the evening, the girl gave birth to a baby boy. They were also shocked when they learned of the child’s birth.

Raped by two friends

The girl told her that she previously worked at Deepak Building Materials Shop on Khasia Road. She alleged that the shop owner, Deepak Soni, and his friend, Babban Thakur, intimidated her and repeatedly raped her inside the shop without her consent.

Police have registered a case against the accused under sections 64, 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code, and 4 of the POCSO Act, and have begun an investigation. Raids are underway to arrest the accused.
