Four days after the murder of 81-year-old NRI woman Jagpal Kaur in the New Abadi area of Khanna town in Ludhiana, Punjab, police have yet to find any concrete clues. A panel of three doctors conducted a post-mortem examination of the body in the presence of her son, who had returned from Canada. Preliminary investigations suggest the woman was murdered by suffocation, with her mouth covered and throat compressed.
Police investigations have revealed that on the night of January 31st, around 1:30 AM, a man entered the house by scaling a wall barefoot. This crucial clue was obtained from footage from the only CCTV camera in the area.
The killer remained in the house from night until morning.
According to police sources, the accused did not commit the crime immediately after entering the house. At that time, the elderly woman was sleeping with her room door closed. The accused remained inside the house from night until around 5:30 AM. It is believed that the accused waited for the woman to wake up.
According to her daily routine, as soon as the woman woke up in the morning and began preparing for her prayers, the crime was committed. This fact suggests that the accused had prior knowledge of the woman’s daily routine.
Police are investigating the case from all angles, including robbery, revenge, and insider involvement, but so far, no concrete information has emerged. The case has turned into a complex investigation, where every new fact further complicates the existing questions.
