Chandigarh: The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with the Commissionerate Ludhiana Police, has arrested two accused wanted in connection with the murder of a property dealer in Ludhiana and recovered a 9MM Glock pistol and one cartridge from their possession.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the arrested accused have been identified as Manjit Singh alias Bobby and Mohit Kumar, both residents of Chanderlok Colony in Ludhiana.
Property Dealer Killed in Ludhiana Attack
According to the police, several armed men carrying pistols and sharp weapons attacked Harjinder Singh in Swatantra Nagar, Ludhiana, on August 7.
Harjinder Singh died in the attack.
Police said preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused Manjit Singh has a criminal history and has been involved in multiple criminal cases, including cases related to attempt to murder and offences under the NDPS Act.
Police also alleged that he had been operating a local gang in the Ludhiana city area.
Accused Traced Through Technical Inputs
Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban said AGTF teams received credible human intelligence regarding the whereabouts of the two accused wanted in the murder case.
The information was shared with the technical cell, following which the movements of both accused were traced.
Acting on the technical inputs, AGTF teams led by Inspector Vikramjeet Singh conducted a coordinated operation with the Commissionerate Ludhiana Police and arrested the two accused from the Tibba area.
A 9MM Glock pistol and one cartridge were recovered from their possession, police said.
Other Accused Yet to Be Arrested
Commissioner of Police (Ludhiana) Swapan Sharma said other accused allegedly involved in the murder have been identified and police teams are conducting searches to arrest them.
An FIR has been registered in Ludhiana under Sections 103, 324(4), 307, 191(3) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Further investigation into the murder and the role of the accused is underway.
