Ludhiana: Recovery agent caught red-handed accepting bribe of Rs 10,000

As part of an anti-corruption drive, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has caught Ravneet Singh, a recovery agent for ‘Saviour Recovery Agency’, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. He was arrested following a complaint lodged by a resident of Kabir Nagar.

The complainant has been running a textile factory under the name ‘GNW’ since 2007. He had availed a loan of ₹40 lakh from IDBI Bank, a matter currently pending before the Debt Recovery Tribunal in Chandigarh. On May 25, 2026, Ravneet Singh contacted the complainant, posing as an employee of the ‘Tehsil East’ office.

He claimed that IDBI Bank was set to take possession of the property on May 28, 2026. Ravneet demanded a bribe of ₹60,000 to delay the possession proceedings and secure a three-month extension for the loan settlement. He had already collected an initial installment of ₹20,000 and was demanding a second installment of ₹10,000.

The complainant recorded the conversation. The Vigilance Bureau arrested Ravneet in the presence of two official witnesses. Investigation revealed that he was not an employee of Tehsil East but an agent for the Saviour Recovery Agency. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau police station in Ludhiana, and further investigation is underway.
