Fire Erupts in Moving AC Sleeper Bus in Ludhiana; 80 Passengers Escape Unhurt

A moving sleeper bus caught fire on the Ludhiana-Amritsar National Highway near the town of Khanna in Ludhiana on Sunday. There were about 80 passengers in the bus, including women and children. As soon as the fire started, there was a stir among all the passengers.

This bus was going from Jalandhar to Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. As soon as it reached Bija village near Khanna, the bus suddenly caught fire. Seeing this, the fire engulfed the entire bus.

The driver put the bus on the side as soon as he got the chance and the conductor started taking out all the passengers while showing speed. All the passengers were safely evacuated in time, which averted a major accident.

SDM visits the spot

Khanna’s SDM Swati Tiwana also visited the spot and took stock of the relief and rescue operations. He said that when the bus was informed about the fire, the administrative staff immediately reached the spot. All passengers are safe. The bus has completely turned to ashes.

He said that it has been found that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. There were about a hundred passengers on the bus. At the moment, a list of passengers is also being made to see who were sitting from where and where they were going.

The administration provided necessary assistance to the affected passengers and made arrangements to evacuate them to safer places. Fire brigade teams reached the spot and controlled the fire after hard work, but by then the bus was completely burnt. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The fire was brought under control by 2 fire tenders.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. At the moment, all passengers are safe. The fire was brought under control with the help of two fire tenders.

Police say that the cause of the fire is initially believed to be a technical fault. However, the real cause will be clear only after the investigation is completed. No casualties have been reported in this accident, but the passengers have suffered huge financial losses.
