Students Returning from Leh-Ladakh Trip Robbed in Ludhiana; One Stabbed During iPhone Snatching

Ludhiana: A group of students returning from a Leh-Ladakh trip became victims of robbery in Ludhiana’s Sahnewal area late on May 10. The incident took place near Brothers Dhaba, located opposite the Sahnewal Police Station, where two unidentified youths riding a white Activa scooter allegedly targeted the students.

According to the victims, the accused snatched an iPhone 15 after attacking one of the students with a knife.

    Student Injured While Resisting Robbery

One of the victims, Vishal, said he and his friends Ravi Gurjar, Rohit, and Vishwanath had travelled from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for a trip to Leh-Ladakh and were returning home when the incident occurred.

The students had stopped near the dhaba to rest when two youths surrounded them and allegedly demanded money. When the group resisted, one of the attackers stabbed Ravi Gurjar in the arm before snatching his iPhone 15 and fleeing the scene.

Injured Student Admitted to Civil Hospital

Following the attack, Ravi was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors treated his injuries and applied stitches to his arm. His condition is reported to be stable.

The students later approached the Sahnewal Police Station to lodge a complaint. They alleged that the police response was not satisfactory, though a formal complaint was eventually registered.

    Victims Claim Accused Were Intoxicated

The students claimed that both attackers appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants during the robbery attempt. One of the victims, Rohit, said he managed to escape after pushing one of the assailants away.

The group also met local MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian, who reportedly assured them of assistance in the matter.

    Police Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are attempting to trace the stolen mobile phone and identify the accused involved in the attack. Authorities said further action will be taken based on CCTV footage and the victims’ statements.
